KMEWO is an organisation that works with women from Kurdish, Middle Eastern and North African backgrounds, supporting those fleeing civil war and gender based violence.

Midaye provides targeted, multi-lingual services and projects to minority ethnic communities in London. Their services are diverse and are designed to provide wrap-around support for individuals.

They include FGM support, employment support, personal coaching for those struggling with mental health, and health and education workshops.

The Angelou Centre is a black-led women’s centre based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

They offer a range of holistic women only services for women across the North East region. As well as frontline support they also work at strategic and national levels ensuring the voices of women are represented and heard.

Apna Ghar Women's Centre (South Shields): 0191 456 4147

Apna Ghar provides services for women from ethnic minority communities in South Tyneside.

These include courses e.g. ESOL, Conversation, Health & Social Care, Volunteering and activities e.g. lunch groups, advice sessions, leisure activities..

Endeavours to end domestic abuse for people and their pets. They have launched a new BAME domestic violence support service focusing on minority groups.

Saheli gives Asian women a chance to get away from violent domestic abuse situations by providing an environment which is safe, culturally familiar and which helps them come to decisions of their own about their next steps.

Information and advice is available to help them to make positive decisions for themselves and their children.

Amadudu Women's Refuge (Liverpool): 0151 734 0083

A refuge for women and children fleeing domestic abuse. The service offers temporary accommodation for families, providing support, understanding and access to additional services when required.

They prioritise the needs of Black and Racial Minority (BRM) women and children but will take referrals from all sections of the community.

Humraaz (Blackburn): 01254 695800

Humraaz Support Services provides confidential specialist support to Black and Minority Ethnic women who are experiencing Domestic Abuse and all forms of Harmful Traditional Practices. As well as a refuge, they also provide advocacy and support. Warning: website features images of women who have suffered from domestic violence.

A survivor-led organisation with experience in the forms of violence that disproportionately affect ethnic minority women.

They welcome women from from any religion or no religion, and of any sexuality, including women who identify as lesbian, bisexual, transgender or intersex (LGBTQIA+).

Panahghar provides free dedicated multi lingual support, advice and advocacy and access to safe refuge for survivors and their families of domestic abuse, sexual abuse or gendered abuse in Coventry and Leicester.

Roshni Birmingham is a leading provider supporting ethnic minority communities through their journey to safety, confidence and independence to live free from violence, abuse and fear.

Shakti Women's Aid (Edinburgh): 0131 475 2399

Shakti Women’s Aid helps ethnic minority women, children, and young people experiencing, or who have experienced, domestic abuse from a partner, ex-partner, and/ or other members of the household.

Working closely with the Scottish Government, Police Scotland, and NHS Scotland, they provide training and consultancy for agencies working with BAME people.
