Hope Bereavement Support

Created in mind for ethnic communities to have an outlet to grieve and receive support after the passing of a loved one, in particular babies and miscarriages. Hope offers multi-lingual counselling services, workshops, counselling and coaching among other things.

HANA - Humber all Nations Alliance

Governed by local people and embedded within the communities they support.
Supporting BME and migrant communities by providing them with a voice, advocating on their behalf and representing their interests.
Aiming to build relationships between communities and services by providing them with support and activities that encourage community co-operation.

BAC - Bradford African Community

A community-run group, BAC look to achieve integration, adaptation and help to meet the need of refugees by empowering them to participate fully in the UK society. Services also include a Women's Group, Homework Club, and ESOL classes.

QED (Bradford)

Since 1990, QED have been running projects such as ESOL, integration 'into the mainstream', men's groups and workshops to aid the BME communities in finding employment.

The Wave Project

Dubbed the Surf Therapy charity, this organisation works with young people to reduce anxiety and improve confidence through surfing. 

Mutli-Cultural Family Base

The Multi-cultural family base works with families from minority communities and new migrants who are experiencing difficulties.

Some of these are practical, such as housing or financial problems; others are more personal, such as dealing with discrimination or emotional issues. They work in a therapeutic way and offer time and support to help people make sense of the difficulties in their lives and work out how to deal with them. 

Edinburugh rape crisis centre

Edinburgh rape crisis centre offers free and confidential emotional and practical support, information and advocacy to women, all members of the trans community, non-binary people and young people aged 12-18 in Edinburgh, East and Midlothian, who have experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives. The National Youth Orchestras of Scotland is an organisation that gives the opportunity for students aged between 8 and 25 to experience the complete orchestral experience. The Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society is a faith-based (Shī’a Ithnā ʿAsharī ) organisation working to meet the needs of the Scottish Shia Muslim community and the breadth of society in general across the cultural, social, political, and religious spectra. Central and West Integration Network

Building a network that brings people together, including formal and informal community groups, agencies and individuals, to seek to ensure that all refugees, asylum seekers, migrant workers and BME communities across Glasgow and Central Scotland have full and equal access to resources which assist in alleviating poverty, improving their standard of living and promoting their settlement and integration within the wider community.

The Edinburugh Muslim Community Association

The Edinburgh Muslim Community Association’ is a non-sectarian grassroots organisation formed in 2004 by a group of committed converts to Islam and Muslim youth of Scotland. St Rollox Community Outreach offers a range of support and services to local residents, Asylum Seekers, and Refugees in North Glasgow. The organisation has a drop-in café available which is available for anyone to come in and have a coffee and meet friends. Scottish Detainee Visitors is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) that supports people detained by the immigration service in Scotland. Room For Refugees

Room For Refugees is a community hosting network that offers safe, temporary homes and pastoral support for insecurely-housed refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable groups - families, the sick, the elderly and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children with no recourse to public funds. Safe Passage

Safe Passage is a campaign that advocates for the safe passeage and access to legal routes for child refugess throughout Europe. Over the past few years the organisation has worked with Refugee Welcome groups and individuals from Glasgow to Totness to ensire Britain continues to be a welcoming country to refugees. Hansel Group of Charities

The Hansel group is one of Scotlands leading charities that support those who live with disabilities.

Hansel Alliance provides services directly supporting young people in their transition to adulthood. They also support people in their own homes; within residential settings; through daytime opportunities; through short breaks and respite opportunities, and through employment support.

Tees Valley Women's Centre

For affordable courses for future employment and building self-esteem in a safe space for womxn. A grassroots venture that offers one to one support for women, advice & guidance, training and education, and employment opportunities, with a monthly law and debt advice clinic available. These are at a reduced rate and they also have a creche service which is free to those taking the courses.

Scottish Refugee Council

The Scottish Refugee Council is dedicated to supporting vulnerable people that are in need of refuge and protection.

The communities that the charity predominantly advocates for are those who have fled life-threatening circumstances in search of a safer environment for them and their families. Navigating the UK's asylum system can be an extremely daunting task and the Scottish Refugee Council is here to help.

Forward UK

FORWARD (Foundation of Women's Health Research and Development) is the African women-led women's rights organisation working to end violence against women and girls.

CHAYN

CHAYN is a global volunteer network addressing gender-based violence by creating intersectional survivor-led resources online. We started in 2013, and have since reached more than 300 000 people and 1.2 million views across the world.

The No Accommodation Network (NACCOM)

NACCOM represents a network of organisations seeking to prevent destitution amongst migrants with no recourse to public funds. Member organisations provide accommodation and support to asylum seekers, refugees and other vulnerable migrants, and NACCOM provide resources and support for our members.

Doctors of the World

Doctors of the World's vision is a world where everyone can see a doctor when they need to. They provide free healthcare, advice and practical support to people who struggle to access NHS services, while working to tackle the barriers to healthcare they face. They believe everyone has the right to healthcare, regardless of their immigration status.

INQUEST

INQUEST is the only charity providing expertise on state related deaths and their investigation to bereaved people, lawyers, advice and support agencies, the media and parliamentarians. Their specialist casework includes deaths in police and prison custody, immigration detention, mental health settings and deaths involving multi-agency failings or where wider issues of state and corporate accountability are in question.

QTPoC Mental Health

QTPoC Mental Health is a facebook group that exists to provide greater access to community healing. They host meditations for queer & trans people of colour and publish original art and writing on www.restforresistance.com.

POC in Campaigns

A facebook group for People of Colour working (or aspiring to work) in campaigns to share opportunities, concerns and questions.

POC in Nature

A Black-led community for People of Colour to explore the healing power of nature, environmental justice & land-honouring ancestral traditions.

Sarbat LGBT Sikhs

Sarbat is a volunteer led group addressing LGBT issues from a Sikh perspective. They organise regular events to encourage discussions, tackle homophobia/biphobia/transphobia and build bridges within and beyond their communities.

LGBT Health & Wellbeing

Established in 2003, LGBT Health and Wellbeing works to improve the health, wellbeing and equality of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people in Scotland.

Venture Scotland

Venture Scotland offers young people, who are struggling with life and are aged 16-30, a personal development course based in the outdoors.

They provide transport, accommodation, food and outdoor clothing and can even help with bus fare. It begins by having a conversation with a staff member.

 

Access Adventures

Access Adventures is a community of outdoor adventurers and a non-profit organisation providing adaptive adventure camps for people with a physical disability. 

Through camps and taster sessions they offer a variety of different sports and activities with more on the way.

Shakti Women’s Aid helps ethnic minority women, children, and young people experiencing, or who have experienced, domestic abuse from a partner, ex-partner, and/ or other members of the household.

Working closely with the Scottish Government, Police Scotland, and NHS Scotland, they also provide training and consultancy.

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through advice, support, and legal services.

Crisis

Crisis is a national charity for homeless people. They provide help so that people can rebuild their lives and are supported out of homelessness for good.

They offer one to one support, advice and courses for homeless people in 12 areas across England, Scotland and Wales. How they help someone depends on their individual needs and situation.
