Local Support

Saheli

Saheli gives Black, Asian and Minority (racialised) women and children a chance to get away from violent domestic abuse situations by providing an environment which is safe, culturally familiar and helps them come to decisions about their next steps.

Information and advice is available in multiple languages to help make positive decisions for themselves and their children. Their helpline is on 0161 945 4187.

Southall Black Sisters

Southall Black Sisters provides an advocacy service for women affected by gender based violence. They offer specialist advice, information, casework, advocacy, counselling and self-help support services in several community languages, especially South Asian languages. Whilst their focus is on the needs of black and minority women, we will not turn any woman away who needs emergency help.

Kinergy

Kinergy is a specialist counselling agency offering support for survivors of sexual abuse and sexual violence in Bristol.

They're inclusive of all genders, 18 years and above. The website features help guides, leaflets, apps and information on other support available.

Ashiana Network

The Ashiana Network offers  a range of services including specialist counselling, advice and advocacy, and professional training. They support ethnic minority (racialised) women between the ages of 16 and 30 who are at risk of domestic violence and sexual violence. 

Amadudu Women's Refuge

A refuge for women and children fleeing domestic abuse in Liverpool. The service offers temporary accommodation for families, providing support, understanding and access to additional services when required.

They prioritise the needs of Black and Racial Minority (racialised) women and children but will take referrals from all sections of the community.

Hackney CVS

Hackney CVS is an umbrella body committed to making Hackney a fairer place. They believe everyone should have the best start in life and the best opportunities to succeed regardless of their background, race, social class, gender, sexuality or disability. They offer advice and training to local community groups, allowing them to influence how the public sector works.

The Bridge

The Bridge is a sexual assault referral centre who offer medical care, emotional and psychological support, and practical help to anyone who has been raped or sexually assaulted across Bristol and Weston.

Savana

Savana are a Stoke-based organisation offering free counselling and support services for anyone from the age of 4 who have been affected by sexual violence and abuse.

 

Asian Women’s Resource Centre

Asian Women's Resource Centre is a voluntary sector grassroots organisation, based in Harlesden. They provide services for women who are, or have been experiencing domestic abuse.

Services also include information for survivors of domestic abuse in multiple languages, including Bengali, Guajarati, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Farsi and more.

Milk and Honey

Milk and Honey is an expressive safe space that allows young women and girls who are often deemed as hard to engage to flourish and take ownership of H.E.R (Healing, Empowerment and Resilience) through 1:1 sessions and creative group projects.

The Green House

The Green House offers a range of evidence-based individual therapies (12 to 24 sessions) to children and young people up to the age of 18 who have experienced sexual abuse, living in Bristol, Bath and North Somerset, North East Somerset and South Gloucestershire. 

New Step for African Communities (NESTAC)

NESTAC work to empower the disadvantaged population within the Black and Asian Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, particularly refugees, asylum seekers and other immigrants from the new emerging communities in Greater Manchester.

They promote social integration, equality, diversity and human rights, with support for women and young girls who are gender-based violence survivors. 

Humraaz

Humraaz Support Services in Blackburn provides confidential specialist support to Black and Minority Ethnic (racialised) women who are experiencing domestic abuse and all forms of harmful traditional practices.

As well as a refuge, they also offer advocacy, support and peer support for professional women. 

Abianda

Abianda is a London-based enterprise working with young women affected by gangs and county lines, and the professionals who support them. They offer services to young women aged 10-25 and training for those who work with them.

Intercom Trust

Intercom Trust is an LGBT+ charity working across Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and the wider South West.

They provide help and support, advocacy, counselling, training, information, groups including domestic abuse support.

EACH Counselling and Support

EACH was founded in 1991 as Ethnic Alcohol Counselling in Hounslow. It was the first Asian specific community-based alcohol service to be established in the UK.

They now offer counselling and support to help anyone affected by drugs and alcohol, mental health issues, violence and abuse, as well as social and peer activities.

 

 

Anah Project

Anah Project provides support for women experiencing any form of abuse in Bradford in various languages. They aim to educate women on their human rights, increase their confidence and self-esteem and regain their independence. First Light

First Light is a charity supporting people in Cornwall, Devon and Wiltshire who have experienced domestic violence and domestic abuse.

From support through the court system, to counselling and creating safe plans for individuals to rebuild their lives, they offer a wide range of services.

Refugee Women Connect

A women-only charity set up to support women asylum seekers, refugees (people seeking asylum and refuge) and survivors of trafficking.

They run weekly drop-ins offering a range of emotional and practical support and activities. They also accompany women to appointments, offer mental health support groups and 1:1 support.

Enfield Muslim's Women's Aid

Enfield Muslim’s Women’s Aid provides relief for women and their dependent children who suffered or who are at risk of suffering domestic violence or abuse through the provision of accommodation, support and advice.

Apna Haq is a survivor-led organisation supporting Black and minority women and girls (racialised) in Rotherham to escape violent situations.

They welcome women from from any religion or no religion, and of any sexuality, including women who identify as lesbian, bisexual, transgender or intersex (LGBTQIA+). 

RISE

RISE is an independent, Brighton-based registered charity that helps people affected by domestic abuse. They offer practical help ranging from direct advice to refuge accommodation for those whose lives are at risk.

The Shores

The Shores in Dorset provides a service to men and women who have experienced rape or sexual assault. They work hard to acknowledge the extra barriers faced by ethnic minorities (racialised people), LGBT+ individuals, and disabled people.

 

IMECE Women’s Centre

IMECE supports women from ethnic minority (racialised) backgrounds, in particular supporting Turkish, Kurdish and Cyproit Turkish. They work with all those who self-identify as women. Services include counselling, advice and information, and training.

Panahghar

Panahghar provide free dedicated BAME (racialised) multilingual support, advice and advocacy and access to safe refuge for victims and their families of domestic abuse, sexual abuse or gendered abuse in Coventry and Leicester.

Specialist counselling and therapy services offered to women 16+ who have experienced domestic violence in Middlesbrough. 

Bharosa

Bharosa is a domestic abuse service for ethnic minority women (particularly those from a South Asian background) living in Birmingham. They provide a free service which is confidential and unbiased for women and young girls over the age of 16.

Olive Pathway

With the aim of eliminating violence against women in BME (racialised) communities and a strong focus on cultural sensitivity, Olive Pathway raises community awareness and offers aid through the advocacy, legal aid, interpreting, early intervention and crisis support and outreach.

Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO)

IKWRO support Middle Eastern and Afghan women and girls who are at risk of  ‘honour’ based violence, forced marriage, child marriage, female genital mutilation and domestic violence.

They provide direct services including advocacy, training and counselling, while offering support in Kurdish, Farsi, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Turkish and English.

P.H.O.E.B.E. Centre

P.H.O.E.B.E is an Ipswich-based charity offering advice, information, advocacy support and counselling to ethnic minority (racialised) women and children, including domestic abuse support.

Route2 is an initiative offered by My Sister's Place that offers one-to-one help, education, advice and support to rehabilitate men who are behaving abusively towards family and want to change in Middlesbrough.

Rape & Sexual Violence Project (RSVP)

RSVP believes that everyone deserves a life free from sexual violence and abuse. They offer empathic services to support and inspire children and adults of all genders who have been subjected to sexual violence and abuse. 

Safety4Sisters

Safety4Sisters works to support migrant women across the North West who have experienced gender-based violence and who have no recourse to public funds or state benefits.

Jewish Women’s Aid

Jewish Women's Aid supports Jewish women and children affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence. They also have resources to help individuals support someone they suspect is going through domestic abuse.

Shakti Women's Aid

Shakti Women’s Aid Edinburgh helps ethnic minority (racialised) women, children, and young people experiencing, or who have experienced, domestic abuse from a partner, ex-partner, and/or other members of the household. Working closely with the Scottish Government, Police Scotland, and NHS Scotland, they also provide training and consultancy. Their helpline is on 0131 475 2399.

Harbour

Harbour works with families and individuals in the North East who are affected by abuse from a partner, former partner or other family member.

They also offer security measures and help with housing for refugees.

Anawim

Anawim exists to support women and their children, especially women vulnerable to abuse, trauma, and exploitation including prostitution. It seeks to provide wider positive choices to help them achieve their goals and reach their full potential as part of the wider community. 

WomenMATTA

WomenMATTA is a women's centre in Manchester that provides intense, holistic support to women affected by the criminal justice system and to those at risk.

It is a 'one-stop-shop' offering group work, one-to-one and counselling around domestic and sexual violence, mental health, substance and alcohol addiction, debt or money issues and more.

Kiran Support Services

Kiran Support Services is an Asian women organisation based in Walthamstow. They offer support for people seeking refugee, immigration advice, help for women in abusive relationships and more. 

They also provide safe, temporary accommodation to Asian women and their children.

Hemat Gryffe Women's Aid

Hemat Gryffe provides a range of services including outreach support, culturally sensitive counselling, and support on immigration, domestic abuse, forced marriage or honour based abuse matters. Their support covers women, children and young people in Glasgow. Alongside this, their website is available in English, Bengali, Cantonese, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu.

ARCH Teesside is a specialist sexual violence service offering free and confidential support, help and advocacy to people in the Teesside area who have experienced rape and sexual abuse, at any point in their lives.

BCA Support Services

BCA Support Services is a Registered Provider (RP) delivering 24 hour emergency housing with supported accommodation to female adults at risk of homelessness and domestic violence across Birmingham.

Leicester LGBT Centre

Leicester Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Centre is a voluntary organisation established to support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and young people in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

They run a range of groups for adults, young people, older people, asylum seekers and refugees, families and more.

Kurdish and Middle Eastern Women’s Organisation (KMEWO)

KMEWO is an organisation that works with women from Kurdish, Middle Eastern and North African backgrounds, supporting those fleeing civil war and gender based violence through one-to-one support, bilingual counselling and confidence building, education, training and volunteer opportunities.

Bawso

Bawso provides practical and emotional support to Black and Minority Ethnic (racialised) victims or for those affected at risk of domestic abuse and all forms of violence. Their services include refuge, floating support, outreach, children and men's support.

A Way Out

A Way Out is an outreach and prevention charity which aims to engage, empower and equip vulnerable and excluded women, families and young people.

They offer support for people with substance misuse problems, those involved with sex work, experiencing homelessness and often engaged in offending or victims of abuse.
 

Impact Pathways

Impact Pathways is a ‘map’ of provision designed to help people who live and work in the West Midlands access support they might need. It allows the public and professionals to search in their area for the resource, knowledge and expertise of statutory agencies.

Plymouth and Devon Racial Equality Council (PDREC)

PDREC provides advocacy, advice, information and support services for BME (racialised) people and others who have been victims/witnesses of racial/religious hate crime incidents, abuse, discrimination or prejudice in Devon.

Issues addressed include domestic violence, safeguarding, housing, health, isolation, unemployment, poverty and destitution, identity and education.

Sistah Space

Sistah Space is a London-based domestic violence charity that provides specialist support services to women of African and Caribbean heritage.

Women and Girls Network

Women and Girls Network are a free service run by women, for women in London who have been affected by all forms of violence and abuse. They services include a helpline, webchat and other emotional and practical signposting support.

Alongside this, they have specific services for young women and non-binary people aged 11-25.

Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre

Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre offers free and confidential emotional and practical support, information and advocacy to women, all members of the trans community, non-binary people and young people aged 12-18 in Edinburgh, East and Midlothian, who have experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives. 

Julian House

Julian House run a large number of projects and services across the South West for all communities including special services for refugees and travelling communities covering health, housing, education, domestic violence, addiction support and more.

The Angelou Centre

The Angelou Centre is a Black-led women’s centre based in Newcastle.

They offer a range of holistic services for Black and minoritised (racialised) women experiencing violence or marginalisation.

As well as frontline support and refuge provision they also work at strategic and national levels ensuring the voices of women are represented and heard.

Newcastle Women's Aid

Newcastle Women's Aid is a confidential service run by women, for women. They provide a range of specialist domestic abuse services which include refuge accommodation, recovery programmes, outreach support and children and young people’s support.

One25 are a Bristol-based charity that support women through crisis and trauma. 

They offer an outreach van for women on the streets at night, a daytime drop-in centre, a casework team, as well as specific teams for those with experience of child-removal and those in recovery.

Al Hurraya

Al-Hurraya Nottingham was founded in response to an emerging need of a service which works directly with minority communities. They offer "culturally-wise" counselling, community building, addiction support, family support, education and prevention, early intervention and women's groups.

Apna Ghar Minority Ethnic Women's Centre

Apna Ghar provides services for women by women from ethnic minority (racialised) communities in South Tyneside.

Their offers include courses for ESOL, health and social care and more. They also have lunch groups, advice sessions and leisure activities. 

Interpreting services are available for members and for statutory agencies.

Hopscotch Asian Women's Centre

Asian Women's Centre in London offers information, advice and meeting spaces for different generations of Asian women. Their services include advice, youth groups, multi-lingual homecare, older women's groups and domestic abuse support.

Zola Women's Aid

Zola is a specialist BAME refuge run by Juno Women's Aid. There are specialist staff members who can support women’s language and cultural needs. They speak Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi and English. They support women with issues such as safety, housing, benefits, immigration, finances, children and health.

Halo Project

The Halo Project in Middlesborough supports victims of honour-based violence, forced marriages and FGM by providing appropriate advice and guidance to Black and minoritised (racialised) women. Call their helpline on 01642 683 045.

Youth Realities

Youth Realities is a youth-led organisation based in Barnet addressing teenage relationship abuse through creative education and specialist, survivor-centred support. They offer 1:1 support, workshops, dance classes, manhood programmes and other bespoke and creative projects.

Next Link Bristol

They provide a range of domestic abuse support services to women and children, including safe houses, children’s services, dedicated Black and Ethnic Minority (racialised) services, resettlement and outreach services, and a crisis response service.

WomenZone is a community centre in Bradford.

With ESOL classes, women's health groups, employment support and other services, they identify needs primarily of South Asian women for a women-only safe place.

 

Endeavour Project

Endeavour in Bolton aims to end domestic abuse for people and their pets. They have a free service for Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic (racialised) people who are victims and survivors experiencing domestic abuse and/or violence.

The Outside Project

Crisis night shelter for the LGBTIQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer) community who feel endangered, who are homeless or 'hidden' homeless. 

They run recovery groups, African-specific groups, social events, as well as referral-only arts and exercise groups.

Bradford Rape Crisis - The Jyoti Service

The Jyoti Service is a specialist service for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (racialised) women and girls.
